After its successful launch at the Bett show in London, where it announced over 20 new products, the Tinusaur team was invited to Johannesburg, South Africa, to run a series of electronics and robotics workshops for students, as well as training for their teachers.
For a week, children from schools in Johannesburg will have the opportunity to join the workshops and assemble a miniature computer – the popular Tinusaur Kids.Micro – and then learn to create programs for it.
At the end of the week, the teachers of these students will go through a one-day intensive training in teaching STEM methodology developed by the Tinusaur team and will also assemble a Tinusaur Kids.Micro.
Tinusaur is a one-of-a-kind educational platform combining three main components: electronic microcontroller boards; educational content created by educators with a long professional experience; and intensive training for teachers. An original product developed in Bulgarian, created and produced in Veliko Tarnovo, and first introduced as part of a training program at Veliko Tarnovo University back in 2016.
The workshops will take place at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, Johannesburg’s most popular and iconic educational and research space.
Sci-Bono is a world-class science center that supports mathematics, science, and technology learning and offers innovative, dynamic learning experiences that contribute to building South Africa’s science, engineering, and technology capacity.
The main organizer of all this is the BCause Foundation – a recognized leader with over 25 years of experience at the national and international level, encouraging people, organizations, and communities to transform their lives by developing a giving culture and social investment.
At the local level, the partner is the charitable organization Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa, which has been helping the children of South Africa for over 20 years.
Most importantly, it will not end here. After the workshops are over and the Tinusaur team returns to Bulgaria, a series of online courses are planned for the students, where they will be able to expand their knowledge of electronics, programming, and robotics.
But that’s not all – teachers will also be able to continue their learning by engaging in several additional online training sessions in the coming months. This will enable them to prepare for the next academic year, when they will be able to put into practice what they have learned during their studies.
This is the first in a series of initiatives by the Tinusaur Foundation to help children around the world take their first steps in science.
